Build: Arduino Proto Shield The Proto Shield from LadyAda makes creating project for the Arduino a breeze. The Arduino Diecimila comes a lot of female headers for connecting simple sensors, but that’s about it. If you really want to expand your capabilities, the Proto Shield is the answer.
Here are the specs from the LadyAda website:
Compatible with NG or Diecimila
Reset [...] [..] |

Arduino XPort shield build - Part 1 In this build I am going to be making the XPort shield that is available from LadyAda’s web site. The shield will allow you to connect your Arduino to the Internet and check your email, interact with Twitter, send SMS messages, and a whole lot more.
I was inspired from the book “Making Things Talk” by [...] [..] |

GPS logging Arduino shield Adafruit has released a GPS logging Arduino shield, freaking cool! Pop this on to an Arduino and you can make your own GPS logger, locative art projects & more! The kit is available here.
This shield requires a GPS module (sometimes called an “engine board” or “engine module”) to receive the timecode data from GPS satelites. [...] [..] |

Arduino Wave Shield pitch demo Limor of Adafruit Industries posted this video demonstrating how the Waveshield kit can turn Arduino into a sample-bending audio tool.
Consider for a moment that potentiometer replaced by - oh let’s say - photocells or maybe a force-sensing resistor. If you’ll excuse me - I’ve got some experimentation to go do - Wave Shield [...] [..] |

Build: The Wave Shield for Arduino Controlling audio with a micro-controller can be difficult, really difficult. The Wave Shield, from LadyAda, makes it simple. There is a bunch of sample code on the LadyAda website to get you up and running fast once you build the kit.
The Wave Shield is just one component that will be integrated into an interactive piece [...] [..] |

Wave Shield kit for Arduino Ladyada’s just churning out the new kits these days; I’m not sure she’s human. The latest:
Adding quality audio to an electronic project is surprisingly difficult. Here is a shield for Arduinos that solves this problem. It can play up to 22KHz, 12bit uncompressed audio files of any length. It’s low cost, available as an easy-to-make [...] [..] |

How To: Make a simple WiFi Yagi antenna Nick sent in this great build for improving your WiFi connection. There are a lot of different ways to make WiFi antennas, many of them featured on the MAKE blog. This is a nice design based on the Yagi antenna, which has been around since the 1920’s.
I have been playing around with some wifi networking [...] [..] |

Arduino Nano Just when you thought you had them all, the Arduino mutates yet again -
The new Arduino Nano is the smallest and most versatile Arduino board yet. Designed and manufactured by US-based Gravitech, it has all the functionality of an Arduino Diecimila in a compact, breadboard-ready design. The Nano includes an ATmega168 microcontroller (w/ bootloader), integrated [...] [..] |

Arduino Project: XPort and an LCD Silent Q has a nice project for getting started with your XPort shield from LadyAda. The XPort grabs the DHCP information and displays it on an LCD. This is a nice way to check for errors while connecting to the net. I am still playing around with the one I built for the blog, and [...] [..] |

AT&T and Starbucks Finally Launch Free WiFi; Not Really Free It’s here, it’s gone, it’s here, it’s gone, it’s here. It took a fair number of misfires and tweaks but AT&T and Starbucks have finally launched the free WiFi service we’ve been waiting for, well, for a long time. The catch? There are actually several. Truth be told, this free WiFi deal isn’t free at [...] [..] |

| Simple Arduino robot OK, this isn’t exactly a complicated robot. I really like the simplicity of the build. It would be very easy to change things around or add sensors, since the breadboard is right there on top and it has a lot of extra room.
