The clock is build out of bicycle parts. One of the design principles was to use only used elements. Edison once said that to invent you need good imagination and a pile of junk. The designers took his advice seriously.
The Bike clock was build by Yedidya Vardi and Vladimir Zviagintsev of the Ron Vardi Center for the Development of the Gifted, in Rishon Lezion - Israel

This is an old project, but I think it is worth a mention on the blog. It’s a POV clock that requires only a few parts. All the schematics and code are available on the website. Looks like a nice intermediate electronics project, give it a try.

This is a very simple bike rack that was designed to carry 3 bikes in the back of a pickup truck. This has got to be a lot cheaper than any commercial version. There is even a 5-bike model at the end of the build instructions.
