Today, The Wireless Association announced updates to its Consumer Code for Wireless Service. The Code, according to CTIA, “was originally developed in 2003 to help consumers make informed choices when selecting and managing their wireless service.” Wireless companies can sign and “adhere to the Code’s 10 points, including commitments to disclose rates, additional taxes, fees, surcharges and terms of service; provide coverage maps; make customer service readily accessible; and allow a trial period for new service.” Previous Code signatories include: AT&T, Celcom, Clearwire, Sprint, T-Mobile USA, Unicel, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless. In a separate press release, Verizon Wireless announced that it will sign and support the new code put forth by CTIA. And there you have it.
