You will notice that it lacks definiteness; that it lacks purpose; that it lacks coherence; that it lacks a subject to talk about; that it is loose and wabbly; that it wanders around; that it loses itself early and does not find itself any more. --Mark Twain |

Send to email | Palin-genesis speaks in Policy and Politics | By Thoughts el 04-Sep-2008 | I haven't seen Sarah Palin's speech, but reviews seem pretty negative. ABC's Jake Tapper reports:
The Detroit Free Press invited a panel of Michigan voters to weigh in on Gov. Sarah Palin's speech last night. Their reactions run the gamut, but the independents didn't seem to care for her very much.
Ilene Beninson, 52, Berkley independent: "Her speech contained few statements about policy or the party platform. … I am not convinced that Palin's experience as a mayor or governor in Alaska meet the qualifications to be vice president much less one stroke or heart attack away from being commander in chief.”
Mike Kosh, 38, West Bloomfield independent: “The way it looks to me, she's the Republican vice presidential nominee for one reason: Because Hillary wasn't selected.”
George Lentz, 66, Southfield independent: “I was completely underwhelmed. She was a Republican novelty act with a sophomoric script. It was not even a speech I would expect for someone running for the local PTA, much less for vice president.”
Diane Murphy, 42, Sterling Heights independent: “It appears that once she makes up her mind, that is the end of it. We live in a gray world, not every answer is black and white.”
Jan Wheelock, 58, Royal Oak independent: “Nothing worked for me. I found her barrage of snide remarks and distortions to be a major turnoff. She is not a class act. The most important point she made is that she will be an effective attack dog.” Yep, attack politics. From the campaign which once said:
We don't want to talk about [Obama's] patriotism and character. We concede that he's a patriot and person of good character. Then again, it's also the campaign that said "This election is not about issues." Read the comments on this post...

| Palin-genesis | | Time magazine digs into Mayor Palin's early days:
At some point in those the fractious first days, Palin told the department heads they needed her permission to talk to reporters. | Palin-genesis: Parental supervision suggested | | Kos wonders:
Does O'Reilly really want to maintain that the difference between Jamie Lynn and Bristol is that the Spears daughter was "running around unsupervised"? Because if O'Reilly insists that Bristol, to the contrary, was supervised, then how exactly did she get knocked up? It would follow that ... yeah. Gross.Of course she supervised. | Palin-genesis: McCain was for mocking candidates' kids before he was against it | | I've been loath to say anything about Sarah Palin's impending grandmotherhood, the unwed state of her daughter, the shotgun wedding she's arranged for young Bristol, and all the other mud being slung. I think it's petty and inappropriate to campaign by attacking people's children.
That's why I also thought it was inappropriate in 1998 for John McCain to jokingly ask "Why is Chelsea Cli [..] Read complete article | | Published 03-Sep-2008 by Thoughts in Policy and Politics Read 0 times. More hits in |

| Palin: Dangerously unqualified for VP | | This is truly the Harriet Miers of VP selections. A shot from the hip that signifies not only the incompetence of nominee Palin, but more worryingly, of nominee McCain. Steve Benen explains:
