Send to email | Point-counterpoint in Creationism | By Thoughts el 09-Sep-2011 | David Klinghoffer of the Disco. 'tute wants to draw links between evolution and 9/11 conspiracies. In his usual long-winded way, he makes a lot of efforts to link evolution to anything evil, but doesn't offer much beyond hand-waving to back the claim up. This must be the best he can do for the 9/11 memorial week, since I doubt even he can find a way to link al Qaeda to Darwin. After all, Islamic fundamentalism isn't known for its love of Western science!
It'd hardly be worth noting, if not for the fact that the only 9/11 "truther" I've seen pop up on either side of the creationism/evolution blogosphere is Bilbo, formerly of the pro-ID Telic Thoughts blog. Bilbo defended his regular postings about how 9/11 must've been an elaborate plot by whoever, writing:
My excuse for posting this thread is that it is relevant because it is rejected by the mainstream establishment and because it attempts design detection without knowing who the designer is. And in an earlier post (promising not to raise the issue again):
both 9/11 truthers and ID proponents try to base their design detection on physical evidence. Even Michael Shermer likened 9/11 truthers to creationists. These, frankly, are more compelling arguments than anything Klinghoffer has on offer. If he objects so strongly to 9/11 truther arguments, perhaps he should take it up with Bilbo before he tries baselessly tarring others. Read the comments on this post...

Comment Some more details are beginning to emerge on the Prime Minister’s new “food security” theme, which he has just been debating with other big-league politicoes at the G8 summit. | Counterpoint: Dangers of Focusing Solely on Climate Change | | No one with any scientific sense now disagrees about the severity of the climate crisis. But some people — and some magazines — believe that climate change trumps every other problem. If we take this argument to its extreme, we should ignore any environmental concern that gets in the way of reducing emissions. And that’s [...] [..] Read complete article | | Published 19-May-2008 by Nerdblog in General Read 26 times. More hits in |

| Missing the point | | PZ Myers is disappointed. There's a massive oil gusher in the Gulf of Mexico, BP is incapable of stopping it, as is the federal government, and the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Florida (and soon on to Georgia and the Carolinas) are being coated in a chocolatey rainbow of crude oil. This is bad, and there's nothing that people who live in these areas can do about it, so there've been occasiona [..] Read complete article | | Published 26-Jun-2010 by Thoughts in Culture Wars Read 16 times.
