This project called “Flying planter (Fledge)”, uses an Arduino Lilypad controller to tilt a disc to rotate towards wherever it sees sunlight. This would ideally help to save your indoor houseplants from their imminent demise throughout a normal day.

More demanding plants: "Florakel"
untergrund_2.jpg - More demanding plants: "Florakel" It seems like plants may be the next “robots” when it comes to taking over our world. We saw the Twitter Plant in a previous post. This version is a bit simpler, but it gets some of the same information across to the owner. By using a series of RGB LED’s, the plant can tell [...] [..] Read complete article

Robotic F.A.C.E.
halfhead.jpg - Robotic F.A.C.E. This is an older project from MIT, but I think it is still very relevant. Robotic F.A.C.E. or “Facial Alerting in a Communication Environment” is an interesting project that tried to relay human emotion via a simple, and cheap, toy. You may not be able to get this exact toy anymore, but there are plenty [...] [..] Read complete article

Showcase: Augmented Ecologies
This project uses a variety of sensors, Max/MSP, Jitter, and an Arduino to create an interactive virtual environment. I like the augmented plants. When the user touches the plants they create different types of musical notes. Another favorite part is the pressure sensitive moss. There is a lot more information and pictures on the website. The [...] [..] Read complete article

Swedish Plant Destruction Blamed On... Grand Theft Auto (Apparently!) [Traces Of Nuts]
From killing sprees to the decay of society, Grand Theft Auto has been blamed for a lot of things. Add destroying plants. Swedish park supervisor Gert Axelsson is tired of the plants being destroyed in the park he oversees in Lulea, northern Sweden. "I am very much considering getting su [..] Read complete article

The iDeal: Robotic poker dealer
324214993 90B4Ca5D20 - The iDeal: Robotic poker dealer This robotic card dealer was made for a school project. Although it is a bit slow, it has a really nice natural “flick” to the cards. I am sure it could deal the cards faster with some tweaks. Introducing the “iDeal”. It’s the worlds best automatic poker dealer! Perfect for your home poker games and fits [...] [..] Read complete article
