el 17-Aug-2007 | Google menambahkan koleksi Google Pack-nya dengan aplikasi office suite berbasis OpenOffice.org buatan SUN yaitu "StarOffice Productivity Suite". Penambahan ini menjadikan aplikasi StarOffice menjadi koleksi ke 13 khusus OS Windows dalam paket Google Pack, selain aplikasi-aplikasi lainnya seperti: Skype, RealPlayer, Adobe Reader dan Spyware Doctor.
Normalnya StarOffice berharga $70. Tetapi di Google Pack, Google memberikannya secara cuma-cuma. Hal ini nampaknya sebagai tantangan terhadap Microsoft yang selama ini produksinya me-monopoli pasar office suite yaitu Microsoft Office. Dan ini juga menandakan bahwa Google tidak tertarik untuk membuat atau melakukan branding terhadap aplikasi office suite-nya sendiri, yang selama ini telah menjadi rumor sejak tahun 2005.
Bagaimanapun juga pendistribusian StarOffice oleh Google tidak akan berdampak terlalu besar bagi Microsoft Office. Pukulan yang paling berat mungkin akan diterima oleh Corel WordPerfect dan OpenOffice.org yang selama ini hanya mendapatkan pangsa pasar yang sangat kecil di-segmen aplikasi office suite.
