Send to email | Test Tube Clock: Nixie Knockoff in General | By Nerdblog el 24-Jun-2008 |

Who doesn’t love a nice Nixie clock? But the real question is, who is willing to pay the high price of buying one? I know, a lot of our readers can make one fairly inexpensive, but this is still a nice alternative. Possible remake? This clock uses test tubes and a 7-Segment LED to make a really cool looking Nixie Knockoff clock.

| Nixie tube necklace | Eric writes (and from the MAKE Flickr pool):
Someone at the Maker Faire challenged me to turn a working nixie tube into jewelry. Here’s a “glowing cross” steampunk-style pendant. It uses a CR2032 coin cell battery to run the high voltage power supply. It uses less power than an LED throwie.
I don’t know what’s better, this [...] [..] Read complete article | | Published 03-Jun-2008 by Nerdblog in General Read 4 times. More hits in |

| The birth clock | Alexandra Von Feldmann created this really interesting clock, which allows the viewer/owner to determine its fate.
The “Birth Clock” is a fragile glass object containing a digital clock that is not working; it is designed to help you to come to a decision when you’re stuck at a specific point in life. Smash the glass, and [...] [..] Read complete article | | Published 06-May-2008 by Nerdblog in General Read 5 times. More hits in |

| DIY: POV Clock | This is an old project, but I think it is worth a mention on the blog. It’s a POV clock that requires only a few parts. All the schematics and code are available on the website. Looks like a nice intermediate electronics project, give it a try.

| Clock from bike parts | | Guy Vardi writes in:
The clock is build out of bicycle parts. One of the design principles was to use only used elements. Edison once said that to invent you need good imagination and a pile of junk. The designers took his advice seriously.
